Kißlegg
im Allgäu
Castles and lakes,
cature and culture
The "spot" itself, as the place is affectionately called by its residents, has a lot to offer. Embedded in the Kißlegger lake district, in addition to the Zellersee, the Obersee with its Obersee lido is a very welcome destination for locals and tourists. The natural bathing lake is idyllically situated on the outskirts of town and provides sufficient shade with its natural stock of trees. The popular SUP's as well as pedal and rowing boats can be hired on site. In summer, the Obersee becomes a festival location for concerts and events.
Hikers and cyclists also get their money's worth in and around Kisslegg. On various tours through attractive Allgäu landscape with forests, ponds, meadows and moors. Many tours are family-friendly, such as the adventure trail through the Kißlegger Burgermoos or the Arrisrieder Moos nature adventure trail. The Allgäu hiking trilogy also leads through our sights. The Kißlegg local circuit of the Allgäu hiking trilogy manages to get to know the town in a unique way on a short circuit (3.2 km).
The culture and eventful history of Kisslegg offer an exciting contrast to nature. Shaped in the baroque era, the spot has not lost its charm to this day. On the contrary. As one of the most renowned and oldest cultural routes, the Upper Swabian Baroque Route leads directly through the climatic health resort. From the New Castle with its magnificent castle park to the parish church of St. Gallus and Ulrich, you can immerse yourself in the bygone Baroque era. Kisslegg's castles have now become museums or venues, with changing exhibitions or for various celebrations such as weddings and Christmas markets.
Around Kisslegg
The Allgäu, Lake Constance &
the Upper Swabia region
Many paths lead from Kisslegg to wonderful places. Roughly speaking, three different directions are particularly worthwhile. In the direction of the mountains and thus even deeper into the Allgäu and the Alps, towards Lake Constance or towards Upper Swabia. All places differentiated and worth seeing and exciting in their own way.
If you haven't had enough of Kisslegg's castles, you can get ready for the superlative of castles in a little more than an hour's drive: Neuschwanstein Castle near Füssen. A fairytale experience is already the sight of the delightful castle complex. Neuschwanstein is one of the most visited palaces and castles in Europe. The so-called "Castle of the Fairy Tale King" is visited by around 1.4 million people every year.
A visit to the district town of Ravensburg, which is also called the city of towers or the city of games (Ravensburger games, every puzzle fan knows that), is obvious. A cozy little town for strolling, with a number of shops and museums (Art Museum, Ravensburger Games Museum, Humpis Museum). To get a view of the whole city, you have to climb one of the accessible towers or march up the hill to Veitsburg. The view is worth it! In addition, the Ravensburger Spieleland is a must for all families and game lovers.
The historic old town in Wangen im Allgäu with a large number of historic buildings and sculptures is also worth seeing. And of course the well-known and popular Fidelisbäck bakery with its rustic restaurant: a hearty meat loaf with a beer is a must here. But smaller towns like neighboring Wolfegg also have their appeal. Here you can find the well-known and popular Farmhouse Museum or the Automobile Museum. A little further away, but no less interesting, is the Erwin Hymer Museum in Bad Waldsee. Here you can discover and experience the world of mobile travel.
A big highlight of the whole region is Lake Constance with all its facets. He symbolically welcomes his visitors with his two arms and doesn't let them go so easily. The border triangle is here. With a stone's throw you are from Germany in Austria and Switzerland. The Lake Constance region is in a league of its own: from Lindau, Kressbronn, Langenargen, Friedrichshafen, Hagnau to Meersburg, Überlingen and Konstanz. Every place is magical and in the middle of the lake a very special pearl awaits you: the flower island of Mainau.
